Improving Rankings with Author Images

As you might have realized by now SEO is more about doing a series of small things right rather than trying to fix the bigger things first. Attention to detail is key and hence tweaking, trying and testing all those small yet significant changes to your website and ultimately to the overall SEO strategy.

Here are some tips to improve your search ranking with minor modifications to author images.

Fixing the easiest issues first makes most sense and thus you need to have a profile picture for your Google+ profile page. It must be profession and very visible. Since every business thrives on contact, its imperative to get your contacts details right and linked to your business. For example, if you email address must correspond to the website you are writing about. ( s.bostan@simkaconsulting.com if you are writing for/about http://www.simkaconsulting.com/).

Having the same email address as the domain you are promoting gives credibility also in the eyes of the reader. You need to make it extremely simple of the crawler to relate the Google plus profile to the content. Hence another tip here would be to add a comprehensive description about yourself with an email address of the domain of your company in your Google plus profile. Hence it becomes a lot easier for the Google’s crawler to link your G+ profile with your domain. Whenever you post an article on your domain, make a clear byline citing you as the author or contributor of that particular article. For example: By Simona Bostan or Author: Simona Bostan). Another quick tip that has to be consideration here is that the byline name must match the profile on Google plus.

Google itself helps you rank better in the rankings with its Authorship page. All you need to do is visit the Google Authorship page and submit your email address. Once you do this, you can submit multiple articles without having to submit your email address to Google again. If you notice carefully, there is an option called “Profile Discovery”. Once you tick this, others will be able to discover your profile in the Google search rankings.

As soon as Google approves you request for authorship, the G+ profile will also be update your domain where you are listed as author to the “Contributor to” section to the Google plus profile.
